French Construction Equipment Market should be flat next year
Cisma forecasts a flat market next year.
The French construction equipment market has been very dynamic this year, in line with the previous two years: + 6% in 2018 after + 22% in 2017 and + 33% in 2016. The market is now close to the last record levels achieved in 2007/2008. For several equipments, they are even reached or exceeded. This is the case for mini crawler excavators or mobile elevating work platforms. Overall, the French market is at a very high level.
The building and civil engineering sectors are still growing but there is a slowdown in activity. This year the building activity grew by 2.4% after + 6.3% last year. Public works activity rose by 5% after + 8.1% in 2017. This slowdown will continue next year. The building activity should be stable in 2019. Civil Engineering activity should continue to grow at a slower pace of about 2%.
Next year, the French construction equipment market should be very close to 2018. Cisma forecasts a stabilization of the market at the current level. This is an excellent news for manufacturers.
Sales of compact earthmoving equipment could see a small drop while heavy earthmoving equipment should continue to grow at a moderate pace. The road equipment sector will remain dynamic, as mobile elevating work platform sales. At last, the concrete equipment market should stabilize at the current level.
