Earth Moving Equipment Market Share in France

Between 2009 and 2017, the French Earth Moving market expanded with an average annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9%. But, all segments didn’t change at the same pace. Thus, the post-crisis market shares have changed.

While considering the various segments, the mini excavators segment is likely to dominate the market, in units. Over the period 2009-2017, it is the only one segment to have increased his share. The market share rose by 10 percentage points, from 46% in 2009 to 56% this year.

In contrast, sales of Backhoe Loaders are less and less important. The market share decreased significantly from 9% to 2% over the same period. It is a 50% drop in terms of units sold while the global French Earth Moving market doubled within last 8 years.

For its part, the market share of Loaders (crawler/wheeled/compact and Skid Steer Loaders) slightly diminished from 17% to 15%.

Regarding Crawlor Tractors, Wheel and Crawlor Excavators, the market shares didn’t really move with respectively 1%, 8% and 18% this year (from January to August). For these equipment, the volume sold doubled more or less between 2009 and 2017.
